Healing a Generation: Faith Alive’s Vision for a New Children’s Hospital

In Nigeria, access to quality healthcare is out of reach for most, and children suffer the most. With a child mortality rate of 107 per 1,000 live births, Nigeria ranks 192nd out of 193 countries in child health outcomes. The statistics are staggering, but the need is personal.

There are over 100 million children under age 14 in Nigeria, yet only 1,000 pediatricians serve them. That’s just one doctor per 100,000 children, a ratio 100 times lower than in the United States. Economic instability and ethnic violence make care even harder to access. In this harsh reality, even the most basic treatment can mean the difference between life and death.

A Bold Response to an Urgent Need

To meet this crisis head-on, Faith Alive Foundation is building a five-story, 100-bed Children’s Hospital in Jos. It will be the first of its kind in Plateau State, offering a dedicated space to care for children with dignity, excellence, and compassion. The hospital is set to open in 2025.

With support from partners, Faith Alive USA is working to equip the hospital with everything it needs to open its doors and save lives — beds, incubators, ventilators, and essential pediatric tools.

What the Hospital Will Offer

This hospital is more than a building. It is a full-scale response to a national crisis. It will include:

• Emergency Services, including a pediatric surgical room

• Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU)

• Three labs, including radiology

• General Surgery and OB/Gyn care

• Subspecialties such as ophthalmology, dermatology, and neurology

• A fully stocked pharmacy
