Our Ministries in Nigeria
The Faith Alive Foundation provides free medical services and other holistic care to the community of Jos, Nigeria, a city of approximately 1 million people.
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
The Hospital in Jos saw 58,510 patients in 2019, with nearly half of those visits related to HIV/AIDS. Available medical services include general surgeries, obstetrics, pre-natal care, gynecology, pediatrics, cardiology, eye care, ear nose and throat, skin grafting, and others. The diagnostic equipment available at the hospital include x-ray and digital x-ray, viral load testing, blood culture analyzer, ultrasound, electro-cardiogram, and echo-cardiogram. Faith Alive USA is committed to broaden the services available at the hospital because it is the only source of care available to the majority of the local population.
CENTER OF EXCELLENCE
The Center of Excellence at Faith Alive Nigeria is a financial sustainability initiative that helps the hospital to provide free health services to its patients in need.
Patient counseling is a key offering of the staff as many of our patients who are diagnosed with disease are not prepared emotionally to deal with the implications.
The Hospital also operates a Skills Acquisition center, where members of the community can learn sewing, dressmaking, knitting, driving, catering, and computer literacy. In 2019, 27 students graduated from the sewing school, each of whom was provided with a sewing machine upon graduation. 12 students graduated from the computer school, and 5 from the catering school.
The Hospital operates five satellite clinics in the surrounding areas that provide basic care and referrals and receive periodic staff visits from the main Hospital.
In one of the satellite towns, the Foundation operates a K – 8 school that provides free instruction to local children.
In addition to all the above services, Faith Alive also manages a pharmacy, daycare services for children, transitional housing for staff or persons of need, a youth soccer team, a Saturday morning kids club, and manages a food and clothing bank.
