Faith Alive generated $296,000 for a digital mammography unit to provide early detection, on-site biopsies, and in-house treatment. This essential tool will let doctors catch cancer sooner and begin treatment when it matters most, bringing life-saving care free of charge to women who would otherwise go without. The mammography unit will arrive in December 2025. Thank you!
Imagine noticing the early symptoms of breast cancer, a feeling far too many women worldwide have known. Now imagine nowhere to turn for help. That’s the reality for women in Jos, Nigeria, where access to breast cancer screening is dangerously limited. At Faith Alive Hospital, we’re doing everything we can to change that.
The Need Is Urgent
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Nigerian women, accounting for nearly 1 in 4 new cancer cases. Nigeria has the highest breast cancer mortality rate in Africa, and one of the highest in the world. Why? Because access to diagnostic tools is nearly nonexistent. In a city of one million people, there is just one working mammogram machine and no biopsy capabilities.
The result? 90% of cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage, when treatment is far less effective. In contrast, women in the U.S. are nearly five times more likely to receive a mammogram, and their 5-year survival rate is double that of women in Nigeria.
At Faith Alive, we screen about 500 women a year, but we lack the digital mammography system needed to diagnose early-stage breast cancer and intervene in time.
The Vision Ahead
We’ve raised $280,000 to fund a complete digital mammography unit that will allow us to offer early detection, lab biopsy analysis, and in-house surgery under one roof. With this equipment, we can provide life-saving care, free of charge, to women who would otherwise go without.

Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, or a stranger, or needing clothes, or sick, or in prison, and did not help you?’ The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:39-40
