Infant Mortality in Nigeria

In Nigeria the infant mortality rate is 72 per thousand live births, which is the fourth highest in the world. The global average is 27 and for comparison, the US is 5. This disturbing difference can be attributed to the lack of prenatal and post natal care available in the country. To address this great need, the Faith Alive Hospital in Jos, Nigeria, provided over 4800 free maternity patient visits last year and delivered 824 babies.
