DR. CHRISTIAN OGOEGBUNEM ISICHEI   /   Founder
Christian Isichei is Founder of Faith Alive Foundation in Jos, Nigeria. In 1996, Dr. Chris returned from a Fogarty grant at UNM in Albuquerque to his home in Jos with a vision of improving healthcare and social services for the underprivileged in his country, after noting the shocking difference between developing countries like Nigeria and developed countries like U.S. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery degree and Master of Science degree in Clinical Biochemistry/Chemical Pathology from the University of Jos and a Fellowship in Chemical Pathology from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. In addition to his work at Faith Alive and at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), he teaches undergraduate and post-graduate students/residents as Professor and Head of Department of Chemical Pathology at the University of Jos and JUTH. He served as an appointee of the Nigerian President on the Medical and Dental Council Board of Nigeria from November 2013 to August 2014. He is an external Examiner for the National Post-Graduate Medical College of Nigeria and several medical schools in Nigeria. His surgeon wife, Dr. Mercy Wakili Isichei, is an Associate Professor of Surgery and volunteers her surgical expertise at Faith Alive in addition to working as a Lecturer and Consultant General Surgeon/Surgical Oncologist at the University of Jos and JUTH. The Isichei family also runs EPJ Gym and Physical Therapy Center and Gwash-EPJ Specialist Hospital in Jos. They have three lovely children--Emily, Prince and Joseph.
